WHAT, WHY AND HOW.

Concept

The Canadian Common Corps of Peace Officers is composed of people from all walks of life and professions. You do not need to be a police officer to make oath or affirmation and promise to preserve and maintain the public peace and to become a member of this national force of peace officers. Existing police will be welcome to join, and will merely require that they reaffirm their primary oath to preserve and maintain the public peace. It is hoped that C3PO will act a a bridge between the populace and our police officers, and thus can address the growing division and distrust that seems to be developing between those two groups.

In this manner regular people can observe and witness and if need be arrest existing police who by their actions or omission commit breaches of the peace, or otherwise offend the law by operation outside the legislative framework within which they are empowered to act.

Providing education, training, support and logistical abilities, C3PO will address the growing fears that Canada is becoming a police state with expanding police powers and greater restriction on our personal rights and freedoms. By accepting the responsibilities that come with the status of a peace officer, one gains the benefits of its protection under the law and will be better motivated to keep the peace in ordinary everyday transactions with their fellow man; they will enjoy greater respect from existing police if they are called to a disturbance which they may be party to; and in legal actions their testimony will have greater weight in the eyes of the court.

Drawing upon professional police officers, retired Sheriffs, concerned lawyers and even retired judges, along with members of the public, either citizen or Freemen, an organization can be established that will create stronger, more peaceful and just communities where the will and power to keep and preserve the peace is not concentrated and monopolized by any one organization or group, and thus the danger such a situation would created is alleviated. Video activist and political organizers could easily enjoy the status and protection of a peace officer, and thus likely avoid charges of obstruction that police seem so eager to lay when being video tapped by such people.
